Cutie Patootie

I've been trying to work more with my colored pencils. I have become notoriously impatient in my coloring over the past few years, so working with the pencils forces me to chill out and relax - because the details have to be juuuust right :)

I don't know about you, but I never know how a project is going to turn out when I start it. I'm not one of those people who draw an outline of what's gonna go where. I just can't do it. But, I'm in love with this little girl Snuggle from The Greeting Farm, and I love the way she turned out.

I colored her with my Prismacolors, fussy cut her out, and popped her up on some dimensional tape. I made my own background out of some random heart stamps and two inks - Stampin Ups Emerald Envy and Mint Macaron (both limited edition). The second background layer is a beautiful dark purple. I sewed both background layers together - but I think I need a better thread for working with paper. Mine is pretty thin and I messed up part of the stitching.

Now, go snuggle someone...or your pet!

I Love Fairies!

Hello! It's chilly here - winter has been coming and going all season - so a perfect day to curl up and finish my 2nd card for the Farm Fresh Challenge at The Greeting Farm!

I chose to use the Little Fairies stamps and dies, which I am SO in love with! Seriously. So tiny and whimsical - melt my heart!

I'm not the best at photography, but the card is a gorgeous yellow-gold nebula. A little fairy (notice her iridescent wings!) is throwing out an iridescent swirl that in my mind explodes into the encouragement to "to ahead and sparkle"!! I don't think you can see the swirl that well here, but it's really sparkly in real life! I also added some iridescent glitter tape as the background for yet another sparkle :) Oh...and some Wink of Stella on her crown and wings :)

Thanks for popping by. You go sparkle today!

Flapper Anya

Today I'm sharing a card I made with Flapper Anya and Sparkle & Shine stamps from The Greeting Farm - so much cuteness!! I wanted to showcase Flapper Anya on a stage. The idea I wanted to capture was of a lady, dancing and sparkling, no matter her age. That's why her hair is kind of gray. She actually reminds me a lot of a friend of mine, ha!

I colored her with my Copics. I used a stippling technique on her headband. I always love doing this, it gives such a nice subtle blend while looking like it has some texture in it, don't you think?

The background is a combination of distress inks - Dried Marigold and Worn Lipstick. The sentiment and the feather in her hair are embossed in gold, and she has a turquoise sequin in her headband.

Hopefully she'll bring me some luck as I enter her in the Greeting Farm's Jan 2017 Farm Fresh challenge!

Thanks for popping by, see you soon!

My First Bellarific Friday Challenge!

I'm so excited to share with you my design for the Friday challenge at Stamping Bella - my first evah! The parameter on this week's challenge was an inspiration photo - a gold frame with some vintage-y, shabby-chic-y (pinks of course) flowers around the frame, set against an old white brick wall. I decided to take the brick wall and the colors, and came up with this...I love it!

I used Prismacolors for the little superhero, Hayley the Hero, and distress inks on the brick background. For the ground itself, I used Stampin Up's Sahara Sand. I embossed the sentiment in gold, and tied a strand of baker's twine around the bottom.

She makes me smile - and the sentiment's a good reminder, especially for my Lymie friends!

Thanks for popping by, see you next time!

Happy Baby

I made a card last week for a dear friend whose child is turning 1. At that age, you know you're making the card for the parents rather than the little one... :)
BUT, we were all so surprised to see her little one's reaction to my card! He studied it - touched all its different pieces, and had a little conversation with it. I was so touched.

Here's the card:

Here's my supply list:

Stamps: Your Next Stamp Love and Smiles

Gorjuss Prismacolors

I don't often work with colored pencils in my art. I actually still use the same complete Prismacolor set my father purchased for me while I was in high school. It was a gift - I spent all my money in the art store. Nothing like the smell of graphite, wax, and markers! <sigh>.

Well, today my Cat 1 (I have Cats 1, 2, and 3) and I decided to give my Prismacolors a workout. I paired them with a Gorjuss stamp I've been wanting to color for a long while. In fact, I have a BUNCH of Gorjuss stamps that I think would make a great card set! Maybe for a gift, maybe to sell.

Anyway, here is the art:

I kept it simple. Prismacolors and Gamsol. I would have added a sentiment but couldn't find one I liked with this image. To me she is contemplating the wonder of winter.

Happy day! See you next time!

I've dreamed up this blog for a long time, and am super-excited to officially launch it today!! Paper-crafting is a hobby I've had my entire life long...and the older I get, the more importance it holds!

These days, I craft along with my Cat Crew. Oh yes, they are integrally involved...in the stamp selection, inking, coloring, and of course, batting papers and embellishments around everywhere.

Today I'm sharing my very first no-lines coloring project, using the cute Lovable Anya set from the Greeting Farm. It's simple, and hopefully evokes some warm, cheery, hot-cocoa-y winter feelings:
